cometa urbana
The Cometa Urbana, the Urban Kite, will control the impact of informal gathering in public space. After visiting Las Flores, Colombia, we were inspired by the way people move and gather throughout the city. During our trip, we noticed problems we wanted to address through our intervention and were inspired by the social culture of Las Flores. We create markers throughout the city that will function as a canopy and a lantern for the people. At the interstitial spaces between houses, at the soccer fields, at corner stores, as bus stops, as fish market stalls; the pod is a kinetic structure, inspired by informal city interventions by architects such as Teddy Cruz and the social impact that cable net structures by Frei Otto have on the masses. Shade and light from our pods will activate sites throughout the city and create a greater sense of community for the people of Las Flores. Representations inspired by art of Noe Leon.
